Uganda’s national netball team, She Cranes, subjected Wales to a comprehensive 64-40 defeat in the three-match series held in Cardiff.

Welsh Feathers won the opening match on Wednesday but were blown away in a third-quarter blitz by the She Cranes.

An even first quarter ended 14-14 but errors saw the lead slip in the second before Uganda scored 19 goals in the third to put the game beyond Wales.

The win sets up a series decider at Cardiff’s House of Sport on Saturday.

Welsh Feathers had avenged their 2023 Netball World Cup defeat with an impressive 57-45 victory over Uganda just two days earlier

However, a promising start to the second match was undone by an undisciplined and disjointed display.

Joint captain Nia Jones was replaced before half-time by Caris Morgan for her international debut as Feathers coach Emily Handyside continued her policy of blooding new talent.

Uganda She Cranes extended their lead to eight points midway through the second quarter although a late Wales rally meant that the half-time score was 30-24 to the visitors.

The game went further away from Wales after the break when they were out-scored 19-6 in the third quarter.

Welsh misery was compounded in the final quarter as joint captain Bethan Dyke limped off and Uganda maintained the dominance to win.

Uganda – who finished fifth in the recent World Cup – are preparing to face Australia, England and New Zealand in the upcoming Nations Cup.
