Thirty-five head Teachers of all Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Primary Schools converged in Bombo Army Secondary School for a seminar aimed at planning, harmonizing and strategizing the improvement of the performance in UPDF Primary schools.
The Chief of Education Sports and Culture, Col Deus Taremwa, while opening the seminar said the Chieftaincy had developed a deliberate campaign to advise and sensitize heads of schools to ensure that biological children of soldiers are given priority during admission in all UPDF-founded schools.
Col Taremwa said that the establishment of the schools is according to the President’s guidance on the regulation of Education in the UPDF. He added that with several barracks being established, efforts are underway to have primary and secondary schools at all Brigade Headquarters.
Col Taremwa urged the head teachers to improve the standards and become competitive and equally attract the civilian parents to the schools.
He thanked the UPDF leadership for supporting the Chieftaincy to run all primary schools which have seen many children of soldiers attain education at primary and secondary levels.
Col Taremwa said as a matter of necessity the UPDF leadership is prioritizing school infrastructure and teachers’ welfare directly or indirectly through resource mobilization from key stakeholders.
