After months of a long search for Micho Sredejovic’s replacement as the Uganda Cranes coach, the football governing body FUFA, is set to reveal Sébastien Desabree as the new man to manage the top job later today, reports say.

The job to coach the national team fell vacant in July this year when Serbian tactician Micho resigned due to unpaid wages, and joined South African side Orlando Pirates, prompting FUFA to institute a committee headed by former Zambian star and FA President Kalusha Bwalya, to scrutinise over 90 coaches who had applied for the job.

Last week, the football federation shortlisted and forwarded four names of coaches to government from which one was to be selected. They included French born Sébastien Desabre, Emilio Ferrera of Belgium, former Rwanda and Seirra Leone coach John Mckinstry and the acting Ugandan born Moses Basena.

Yesterday, FUFA announced that it was to unveil the new coach today Thursday December 28, 2017 at 2pm.

However, Softpower News has learned from reliable sources that the Frenchman Sébastien Desabre is the man to show.

A man with a rich history and knowledge of African football, Desabre resigned at his club Ismaily in Egypt yesterday after a 5-0 victory against El-Raja in the country’s top flight and is expected in the country this afternoon hours before being revealed to the media.

According to Egyptian news site Kingfut, the Frenchman had informed Ismaily board of his wish to accept his first international job offer with the Uganda Cranes as he claims it would be a great move for his career.

According to a statement issued by the league leaders, they confirmed that the board tried everything to keep the manager at his current post, after the team has been enjoying a blistering start to the season, topping the league and witnessing much-missed stability over the past decade.

Desabre, 41, will be coaching a national team for the first time in his carrier but his rich experience at club level is undisputable .

Born, in 1976 in France, Sébastien Desabre speaks French, English and Arabic.

He has coached ESC Rocheville of France as assistant and later head coach between 2004 and 2010, ASEC Mimosas (Cote D’Ivoire), CS Garoua (Cameroon), ES Tunis (Tunisia), Clube Recreativo Desportivo Libolo (Angola), Dubai Club (United Arab Emirates4), JS Saoura (Algeria), Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco) and lately Ismaily in Egypt.

It is still unclear whether Moses Basena will still deputise him at the Cranes but some sources indicate that he could come along with his assistants.

Although his terms of operation are not yet fully known, reports indicate that he may walk back home with a monthly salary of USD 25,000 which is a 150% increase from what former coach Micho was earning.

Good news but learn to pay coaches and players in time for good results!
