Caring for the environment is without a doubt the most noble of responsibilities that one can undertake. We owe our very existence to the environment from which we draw clean air, water, food, materials and the space for recreation. Nile Safari Lodge typifies the kind of environment everyone wishes to enjoy and also to preserve. An environment that reminds us that caring for the environment is caring for ourselves.

The lodge owes a lot of its beauty to the generosity of Mother Nature. An environment so breathtaking that being kind to it is the best way to pay back for the blessing. Being this indebted to nature’s ways explains why the Lodge goes all in when it comes to being eco-friendly. The commitment is nothing but a conviction, a way of life. The set-up and day-to-day running of the facility simply bring out how eloquently the story of eco-friendly tourism is told.

Sitting on the southern bank of the Nile River in the expansive Murchison Falls National Park, Nile Safari Lodge allows you to escape the ordinary, to a life of luxury and natural comfort. The park is home to big cats, big herbivores, elegant reptiles and unique bird species. There is so much to see while on game drives, boat rides or trekking to the top of the powerful falls that lend their name to the park.

Visits to the nearby Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to view white Rhinos can be easily arranged for you if seeing the Big Five is your thing. The same can also be done in case you don’t want to miss a memorable encounter with the world-famous Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga National Park.

Travelers seeking sustainable safari experiences in Uganda will be glad to learn that Nile Safari Lodge is one of the establishments whose efforts and practices meet the strict standards reflective of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and other industry best practices as far as sustainable tourism is concerned.

The Lodge has embarked on a tree-planting project as a way of further protecting the flora and fauna of the area. Local artisans have also done a stellar job of transforming animal snares into amazing sculptures as part of an anti-poaching project. The commitment to protecting the natural and cultural heritage of the area is the reason why Nile Safari Lodge is a member of Beyond Green – a listing of the most sustainable hotels across the world.

It is quite refreshing to stay at a facility that has made single-use plastic bottles a thing of the past and has in place an ultraviolet water-purification system that runs entirely on solar energy. The culinary treat is that the vegetables used to put together your fine meal are organically grown on-site. Cool, right?

Apart from the solar panels that ensure the facility is well-lit, your boat ride will be in a boat with an electric engine and you can take a swim in a salt-based swimming pool. The mighty Nile River serves as a good source for all the water we use.

The accommodation offerings with their well-constructed traditional thatched-roofs indulge one in a customized experience with stunning views of the Nile River. A Lodge that’s deeply committed to sustainable tourism practices, strives to minimize its environmental impact while employing and engaging the local community in sustainable conservation and development initiatives is one that believes and, lives the eco-friendly story unreservedly.
