She Cranes have defeated South Africans to secure the fifth position at the ongoing Netball World Cup 2023 competition in Cape Town.
Thanks to the girls’ exceptional performance, Uganda was able to avenge the 52-50 defeat suffered at the hands of the hosts this week.
On Sunday, She Cranes, likewise, won by a two-goal difference in a 49-47 thriller.
“And we’re the champions of Africa,” tweeted Uganda Netball Federation.
“Uganda to the World, 1st in Africa and 5th in the World. Congratulations to our gallant She Cranes upon an epic win over South Africa in their last game at the #NetballWorldCup2023,” tweeted the National Council of Sports.
“𝐀𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀’𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓. Congrats to @shecranes256 for grabbing the glorious 5th spot at the #NetballWorldCup2023,” tweeted the government of Uganda in a congratulatory message.
It added: “Their remarkable victory not only secured us as the best in Africa but also shot them straight to the number 1 spot on the continental rankings.”
