Police have revealed that the death toll in the recent Kasese terror attack by suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists has risen to 44 victims.
According to Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, one of the latest victims, Mbambu Felistus, a 50-year-old, female adult, succumbed to the inflicted injuries from the terror attack from Bwera Hospital.
He added a decomposing body of a female victim was recovered in DR Congo by UPDF soldiers who continue to pursue the ADF rebels.
He revealed that the death toll from the school terror attack has now risen to 44.
Enanga said the recovered body of the victim was transferred to the mortuary at Muhoti Military Hospital for further DNA profiling and comparison.
“We do reiterate that there is no justification for terrorism, moreso on innocent school children and other civilians,” Enanga said.
He noted that the targeting of innocent civilians is reprehensible and cowardly.
“As a country, we do continue to acknowledge an outpouring of messages of condolence from several leaders across the globe. We thank them all for expressing their solidarity with us against all forms of terror and sharing their grief with us.”
The police mouthpiece said the Joint Security Agencies remain steadfast and reaffirmed the commitment to countering terrorism and violent extremism against citizens.
