Brig Gen Bagonza underscored that donation will go a long way in the prevention and control of malaria, especially among children and pregnant women who are among the most vulnerable to Malaria.

“The gesture is in line with the Mass Action against Malaria by the government of the Republic of Uganda, a multi-sectoral implementation approach aimed at attaining Uganda’s vision of a malaria-free country for a healthy and productive nation,” he said.

In his remarks, the Deputy Chief of Medical Services, Brig Gen Dr Patrick Ochen, thanked GVS for the gesture of donating life-saving medicines that will go a long way in improving the health of personnel in the UPDF and the Defence Ministry.

“Invest in health, invest in wealth; you have invested in UPDF and MODVA’s health and wealth and for this, we are very grateful,” Gen Ochen added

On his part, the representative and Field Supervisor of Bliss GVS Pharma Ltd, Mr Balitukirira Isaac, explained that they chose to donate to UPDF because they know the health facilities of the UPDF take care of a very big percentage of civilians and so in donating to the force they donated to the civilians more.

“We believe and know that the conversation on eradicating malaria in Uganda and Africa as a whole is so important and through such collaboration and support we make our contribution to ensuring a zero-malaria Uganda,” Mr Balitukirira said.

Bliss GVS an India-based company is the largest manufacturer of suppositories and pessaries.

It is the first group pharmaceutical company with a proven track record of accomplishment of developing, manufacturing and marketing high-quality products across various pharmaceutical categories, which include antimalarials, antifungals, anti-biotics, cough syrups and contraceptives among a myriad of other effective drugs.

The function was attended by Mr SN Kamath, the Founder of antifungals, Mr. Vishal RAO, the company Managing Director, Mr. Ramesh, the Country Manager, Directors, and Senior and Junior officers of the UPDF.
