The Commander of UPDF Land Forces, Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, has advised the soldiers serving in Somalia to conquer fear, be bold and aggressive.
Gen Muhanga who is in Somalia to conduct an inquiry into last week’s deadly attack on a UPDF base said that the weakened Al-Shabaab’s use of suicide bombers in vehicles as a weapon of choice is to create shock action, confusion, fear and use the opportunity to raid the bases.
“It is not that we don’t fear to die, but a well-briefed soldier conquers fear and takes timely decisive effect on to the enemy to bear,” he said.
He informed the troops that he was in the mission area to investigate and also encourage them to do their due diligence as mandated by African Union.
“Our findings will be submitted to the Commander-in-Chief the President of Uganda for the way forward.”
The CLF team comprises Col Stuart Agaba; Director of Operations Land Forces, Col Elvis Byamukama; the MovCon commander and Lt Col Albert Kashakamba the Director of Intelligence Land Forces.
