East Africa’s finest singer, Jose Chameleone, will lead a number of influencers and travelers to the “Explore North Domestic Campaign”, running from May 30-June 3.
The campaign was flagged off by the state minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Martin Mugarra, at the Uganda Museum in Kampala.
The campaign looks at exploring the gems and wonders the north has to offer but also showcasing the diverse attractions Destination Uganda has to offer. It comes shortly after successful campaigns; Explore Elgon and Explore West.
Speaking at the flag off, Mugarra said the campaign is an opportunity for Ugandans to visit and explore North.
He said this is an opportunity to promote domestic tourism and promised to cover up all the places and areas in Uganda.
He thanked the groups and teams that have turned up for the campaign, promising an exciting excursion in the North.
He noted this is being done deliberately to promote the sector, saying the numbers of those touring the sector ha increased basically the local tourists.
In his remarks, Daniel Irunga from Uganda Tourism Board, said, “Besides showcasing what Uganda has to offer to the world, we have to start by encouraging our very own people to proudly explore their country and enjoy first hand experience.”
He noted that they expect 100% recovery of the Uganda’s tourism sector by 2024.
He added that such campaigns are key boosters to surpassing the set targets.
The ‘Explore North’ campaign will see travelers explore key attractions in the Northern part of Uganda like Karuma Dam, Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison Falls, Aruu Falls in Pader district, Acholi Cultural Heritage, Fort Patiko, Ajulu rock, among others.
The Ministry has also outlined key influencers including; kickboxer Moses Golola, comedian Teacher Mpamiire, among others.
