Ugandan marathoners Jacob Kiplimo and Joshua Cheptegei have today won the 16th edition of the United Airlines NYC Half, America’s largest half-marathon
Kiplimo, the half marathon world record holder, won the 2023 New York City Half Marathon in 61:31 on Sunday.

“It was about winning the race. I think I could have run a faster race but I did my best. I think winning World Cross Country Championships helped prepare me for this half marathon,” Kiplimo said after winning the race.
His fellow Ugandan champion Cheptegei came second in 62:09 completing the one-two finish for Ugandan champions.

Kiplimo, 22, holds the world half marathon record from Lisbon.
At the start of the year, he also won the 2023 Bathurst World Cross Country Championships to indicate his emergence as the king of off-track running.
