Cranes Beat South Sudan 5-1 in CECAFA Games

The Uganda Cranes have today thumped South Sudan 5-1 in their second match of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) tournament taking place in Kenya.

Uganda’s Milton Kariisa caught the South Sudanese by surprise when he scored the first goal in the 7th minute.

Hood Kaweesa then scored Uganda’s second goal just in the 10th minute, leaving the Sudanese wondering on how the game would end.

But in the 26th minute, South Sudanese strong man Luak Wol scored a consolation goal making the game 2 -1 in favor of Uganda.

Mounting further pressure on the opponents, Cranes’ forward Derrick Nsibambi gave Uganda its third goal in the 30th minute closing the first half.

To maintain Uganda’s lead and perhaps send a signal to the rest of teams that Cranes is not simply participating, but has its eyes on the trophy, Derrick Nsibambi scored the forth goal in the 58th minute before Nicolas Wadada sealed off the game with the 5th goal in the 86th minute.

Uganda had a goalless draw in their opener against Burundi leaving many Ugandans wondering whether Cranes would defend the regional trophy, but, Friday’s win could have boosted their hopes.
