The government has secured the land title for the property donated to John Akii-Bua in 1972.
Otuke East MP, Hon Julius Acon, was concerned that the physical house was given to the coveted athlete but that the land title was never delivered to him.
The land title of the property was donated to the late John Akii Bua in 1972 when he won Uganda’s first gold medal in Munich, Germany during the Olympics competition.
According to Prime Minister, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja, in July 2021, under the leadership of the First Lady, the government secured the certificate of title for the property given to him by former President Idi Amin.
“This land title was handed over to the administrator of the estate during the President’s recognition of Ugandan Athletes in October at State House,” Nabbanja told parliament at the close of last week.
While handing over the land title at State House, President Museveni told the late Akii-Bua’s family led by Tony Bua to agree to share the property equally.
