The House has put in place some restrictions in order to prevent the spread of Ebola at Parliament.
Visitors to Parliament have also been restricted, according to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among.
She said that regular handwashing, wearing of masks and maintenance of social distancing will be encouraged.
The Speaker also added that the number of Members of Parliament attending the Plenary sittings will be limited.
She announced a raft of measures while chairing the Tuesday plenary.
With guidance from the Minister of Health, Parliament will restrict the number of MPs physically in the chambers to 100.
“The whips are encouraged to draw the rota for attendance of the sittings by the members.”
“Members of parliament are encouraged to use Virtual platforms to attend plenary,” she noted.
The Speaker asked the public/constituents/Electorate not to follow their MPs to Parliament but rather wait for their MPs to come back to the Constituency.
Hon Alex Ruhunda said that the Ebola Outbreak has greatly affected the economy.
He alleged that the media has exaggerated the reporting of Ebola.
He is also concerned about the communication of Ebola Outbreak.
However, the Speaker said that the media is not exaggerating the situation.
