According to the Permanent Secretary at the ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine, Her Royal Highness visited the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) in Entebbe on Tuesday afternoon.

“With health as key on their agenda, they visited @UVRIug this afternoon. This symbolizes the great bilateral relations Uganda enjoys with the UK government,” Dr Atwine noted.

“We are excited to welcome Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal to Uganda,” said the British embassy in Kampala.

The Princess Royal visited the MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit (an internationally recognized center of excellence for research in infectious and non-communicable diseases) to observe the work they are doing in health research for infectious and non-communicable diseases such as COVID-19 in Uganda with support from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

She will later visit Nakivale and Kyangwali refugee settlements.
