ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police, said on Saturday that the police at Katwe are investigating the death of Hassan, 37, a resident of Makindye Division in Kampala City.

He said facts gathered from relatives including musician Eddy Kenzo suggest that the deceased sustained injuries on the face after a fight with his friend only identified as Ronald on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Katwe playgrounds near Katwe Market.

It is alleged that after the fight Ronald dropped off the deceased to his place and only gave him pain killers.

The deceased’s situation got worse the following day and he informed his sister Beth Namugumya of his health situation.

They went to Eddy Kenzo’s residence for financial assistance which he offered.

He was later taken to a dental clinic along Buganda Road and he was examined only to find that his jaws were broken.

During the examination, he told the medical team that he was assaulted by his friend Ronald.

An operation was carried out on the injured area, but his situation worsened. He moved from different hospitals for better care.

On Friday, October 21, 2022, the deceased was taken to Platinum Hospital where he died from at about 11am.

The body was conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for a post mortem.

“We shall avail more information on the cause of death as soon as the information is available. Efforts are underway to get Ronald and other eyewitnesses to record statements. Investigations into the matter continue,” said Owoyesigyire.
