Another health worker Dr John Grace Walugembe has succumbed to the Ebola Virus Disease.
Media reports quote Mubende Resident District Commissioner, Rosemary Byabashaija, saying Dr Walugembe died late Sunday.
Ekwaro Obuku, a physician, researcher, academic and health policy expert in his condolence message said Dr Walugembe becomes the fifth health worker to succumb to the deadly virus.
He listed the “fallen heroes” as Dr. Mohammed Ali, Ms. Margaret Nabisubi and Mr. John Grace Walugembe. The others are a midwife from St Florence Clinic and a health assistant from Kagadi district.
Obuku who is the immediate past president of the Uganda Medical Association, said the latest victim was a laboratory technician at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital.
He was also a proprietor of Life Care Medical Clinic in Kirungi South Division in Mubende municipality.
He died at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital while receiving treatment.
President Museveni over the weekend placed Mubende and Kassanda districts under lockdown to curb the spread of the disease.
