CHARTERED PR practitioner and CIPR fellow, Rachael Clamp, has been named president-elect of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) for 2023, having stood unopposed in the 2022 election.
A current director of the CIPR, Clamp will succeed Steve Shepperson-Smith as president in 2024.
Clamp is a public affairs professional and founder and director of Ardesey Ltd. She has been a director of the CIPR for the past two years, has served on CIPR’s Council, and is a member of the CIPR’s Public Affairs Group having previously volunteered as chair.
The returning officer confirmed the elections after the period of nominations was extended by one week in recognition of the National Period of Mourning following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
CIPR’s 2022 president, Rachel Roberts said, “Many congratulations to Rachael. As someone who has had the privilege to sit on the board with her, I know she will use her experience and skills to serve members as she has done throughout her time volunteering for the CIPR. Her three areas of focus, and the fact that members will benefit from her experience on the board and public affairs focus, I’m sure will continue to drive the CIPR forward. I would also like to congratulate all those who have been elected to serve on Council and to thank you all for putting yourself forward to give back to our community.”
Clamp said, “It is a huge privilege to be able to represent members and I look forward to working with Steve as he leads us through our 75th year in 2023. It’s imperative that the CIPR is fit for the future and able to continue to support practitioners with their career aspirations. But in looking to the future, we mustn’t forget about today. My three focus areas to achieve this will be our proposition, our position and our community.”
