Former coordinator of Intelligence Services Gen David Sejusa formerly Tinyefuza is among the 49 senior army officers who will be retiring next week.
The former spymaster first applied to leave the army in 1996 but was turned down.
He lodged a suit in High Court and then Judge Justice Margaret Ouma Oguli ruled in his favor, ordering the government to pay him Shs1b in compensation.
The government appealed and in February 2002, Sejusa’s victory was overturned.
Sejusa will now finally leave the force along with his contemporaries Gen Elly Tumwine, Lt Gen Andrew Gutti and Maj Gen Elly Kayanja.
This is according to an internal memo addressed to all units on May 10, 2022.
“This is to remind the generals scheduled to retire with batch 12 that the exercise will take place on Monday, May 16 and Tuesday, May 17 at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya at 9am,” the memo reads in part.
The memo further states that a total of 49 General officers will be retiring from the armed forces.
