President Yoweri Museveni has promoted Major Tom Magambo Rwabudongo to the Rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP).
The promotion regularising Maj Magambo in the Uganda Police Force was announced on Friday morning.
Maj Magambo previously served as a Chief Intelligence Officer at Internal Security Organisation (ISO).
On January 25, 2022, Museveni promoted then Private Magambo to the rank of Major and appointed him the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID).
Prior, he served as the Coordinator of the Eastern Africa Fusion and Liaison Unit (EA-FLU), a regional intelligence center based in Entebbe.
The unit is charged with countering terror threats in 10 countries including Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Tanzania.
Who is Magambo?
Born in 1978, Maj Magambo hails from Masindi District.
He attended Masindi Public School for his primary education, Duhaga Secondary School in Hoima for both Ordinary and Advanced Levels.
He later joined Makerere University.
In 2002, he joined Internal Security Organisation (ISO) where he served in the Internal Counterintelligence, and Policy Analysis dockets.
He has done several Intelligence courses in countries like; US, Israel, UK, and Canada.
