Determined to defend the title that they first won in 2017 and again in 2019, reigning champions of the Busoga Masaza cup-Kigulu Chiefdom are not leaving anything to chance.
The latest from the Iganga-based chiefdom is that their Sports Minister-Owek. Musa Lubanga has appointed veteran sportsman Hakim Magumba as the Team Ambassador throughout the tournament.
According to the team’s Publicist, Ismael Waiswa, several resourceful persons from the chiefdom who cherish sports have been appointed and they include; Rashid Matovu Twamulabirawo (Chairperson), Rashid Mbuga (Vice-Chairperson in charge of Administration, Webster Kula (Vice-chairperson technical).
Team Manager is Ahmed Kongola with Arafat Kirege Gonga being the C.E.O.
Others are; Sowedi Baligasima (Treasurer) Ritah Namutamba (Assistant Treasurer), Ismael Waiswa Typpaca and Paul-Kulumba are managing Public Relations with Mariam Babirye Mariam being in charge of the team’s welfare.
Mobilizer for Kigulu North is Nasser Ibanda, Kigulu South is Bernard Mpungu whereas Yakuti Kalange will be in charge of Iganga municipality. The team’s security went to Nasser Ferguson Mukisa, Fans coordinator is Jowali Maka with Yusuf Bagalaliwo a.k.a Gadiola being the Head coach and will be deputized by Umar Matende (Girudu), Hassan Bajja Bagabo, Musa Lukungu as goalkeeping coach.
Ali George Waibi is the physiotherapist while Salim Mansen is the kits Manager while Bruhan Biso is the Stadium manager with Hajj Asuman Mpata of Iganga Parents becoming the team’s patron.
This committee is duty-bound to deliver the title come August during the finals.
Under their slogan of “Team Kigulu Yene Bitone”, the team’s technical bench will name their players ahead of the official tournament launch on Thursday 21st- April 2022 at the Kingdom Headquarters in Bugembe.
Under the theme “Talent identification, development and promotion, this 5th edition is sponsored by Mayuge sugar Industries Limited with MTN Uganda as co-sponsors.
Kigulu is the most successful chiefdom in regard to this tournament.
