The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC has asked the government to compensate families of the Tuesday twin bomb blasts.

According to FDC, President Museveni’s address to the nation on Saturday showed loopholes in the nation’s security when he admitted that Uganda’s security is lax and sleeping on the job.

The twin bombings detonated at the Central Police Station-CPS on Buganda road and the IPS building along Parliamentary Avenue, killing seven people and injuring 37 others.

Speaking to reporters on Monday at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda, the FDC party spokesperson said that the government must compensate the victims because they lost their lives and property due to the laxity of security personnel.

He explained that the government did not carry out enough surveillance to prevent the bombings.

He said the security sector consumes the highest amount of taxpayers’ money in the National budget, therefore they have an obligation of protecting Ugandans.

According to Ssemuju, FDC also demands a list of the incompetent security personnel who were negligent leaving Ugandans to be attacked and killed by bomb blasts. He says they must be held responsible for the attacks and prosecuted.

He advised the government to beef up its intelligence gathering, but also work with the population to fight terrorism.

During his address to the nation, Museveni castigated the police whom he said are corrupt and highly susceptible to being compromised by criminals through bribes.URN
