Rwanda President Paul Kagame has said that Rwandans continue to be harassed in Uganda and that his country treats Ugandans better.

“If you look at how Ugandans are treated, it is better than how Rwandans are treated in Uganda,” said Kagame this afternoon in a television  interview in Kigali.

He said, “Ugandans in Rwanda go about their lives without any problem” while in Uganda, Rwandans are targeted for no reasons whatsoever.”

However, a number of the few Ugandans still working in Rwanda say that in order for a Ugandan to qualify for a working permit in Kigali, one must accept to to praise Rwanda and President Kagame while speakin ill of Uganda and Uganda’s leadership.

A number of Rwandan soldiers have been arrested in Uganda over compromising Uganda’s National Security and deported back to Rwanda.

This news website once asked a senior security official why the Rwandan soldiers arrested in Uganda are not conclusively tried and given sentences in Uganda.

“President Museveni is focused on the big picture of integration of the East African Community and if possible the wider Great Lakes Region. He is keen on integrated markets and unfettered regional trade and movements of its people. He has over the years ignored President Paul Kagame’s provocations for the greater good of the region’s peoples,” he said.

He added, “That is why Rwandan security elements arrested in Uganda or even those who have been presented to the Court Martial are freed by the Commander-in-Chief and returned to Rwanda. It is in the hope that our neighbours eventually wake to the need to for Africa to guarantee peace and security of its people rather than undermine each other’s small countries.”

Killings

Last week, Rwandan authorities handed over the body over of Justus Kabagambe, a Ugandan who was shot at and killed by Rwanda Defence Force after he was found in Burera District in Rwanda with a box of Movit products that are made in Uganda.

Kabagambe was the 10th Ugandan to be killed by Rwanda in two years.
