“I am going to participate in this political football season, I have offered myself to lead the struggle to reclaim the glory of our game. I announce that I will stand for FUFA Presidency in the coming elections,” declared Kasule at press conference.

“The game of football needs systems and structures such that individuals don’t comeback and deprive us of this beautiful game called football,” noted Kasule, adding that there is need to reset and reorganise it in the country.

Kasule whose attempts to assume FUFA presidency in 2017 hit a dead end when he failed to meet all the necessary prerequisites of the Electoral Code and Guidelines, now joins controversial legislator and Katwe United President, Allan Ssewanyana in offering to unseat incumbent president, Eng Moses Magogo who has been at the helm of FUFA since 2013 and has already declared he will stand for the third term.

The FUFA president is elected by delegates from the eight regions, Chairmen of Clubs playing in the Uganda premier league and delegates from the FUFA big league and Fufa Women’s Elite League, delegates from Special Interest Groups (SIG) and those from Uganda Coaches’ Association, the schools’ body and women.

The FUFA Electoral Code and Guidelines require a person who wants to stand for the position of president to among other things have been in football administration for seven of the 10 years preceding an election.

He or she must be nominated at least one of the eight Fufa regions. In addition, you need endorsements from a UPL club and a Special Interest Group.
