With barely 2 years after the resumption of its operations in August 2019, Uganda airlines has won the world’s youngest aircraft fleet award of 2021.

The awards are organized by ch-aviation, an aviation information provider based in Switzerland that gives news, data and intelligence on various aspects of aviation.

The Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award recognises airlines from across the globe that keep a young, modern and efficient fleet.

Ch-aviation put up the awards to recognize operators dedicated to keeping their aircraft fleet young and using new generations of aircraft contribute significantly to the decrease of carbon dioxide within the aviation industry and help achieve better fuel efficiency.

“We are happy to announce that Uganda Airlines is the Winner of the Ch-aviation World’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award 2021, with an average aircraft age of 1.15 years,” announced the aviation information provider.

In second place is SKY Airline of Chile and SalamAir, an Omani carrier founded in 2016 comes in the third place.

At the continental level the winners are The winners on each continent include Uganda Airlines (Africa), SalamAir (Asia), airBaltic (Europe), Frontier Airlines (North America), Fiji Link (Oceania) and SKY Airline (South America).

In Africa, Uganda Airlines was followed by Jambojet, a subsidiary of Kenya Airways, Air Seychelles, Ethiopian Airways and EgyptAir.

Uganda airlines, the country’s national carrier operates scheduled transportation services in Africa and international markets. The airline which started commercial flights in 2019 currently operates a fleet of four regional jets (CRJ900) and two Airbus (A330-800neo). Today, Uganda Airlines serves seven countries, ten destinations and 12 routes and expected to serve 20 destinations by the end of 2021.
