The Minister of State for Urban Planning Isaac Musumba has moved a motion without prior notice to appreciate the manner in which the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga restored order in the house yesterday.

Musumba said Kadaga’s leadership was tested on Tuesday and yesterday when some members attempted to grab the mace which is the symbol of her powers and some turned violent in the chamber.

His motion was seconded by Usuk County MP, Peter Ogwang who is also a parliamentary Commissioner and former Ethics Minister Nsaba Buturo who said the reputation of the house has been injured by what happened yesterday.

“Since the sitting of Tuesday, you demonstrated patience, tolerance, you were considerate to a section of some MPs who were not only indisciplined but grossly violated the rules of this house, indeed some members behaved without Parliamentary decorum when they defied you as you called them to order,” Musumba said.

Bright Rwamirama who is the Minister of State for Veteran Affairs said the Leader of Opposition led the protest in the house and should be made to apologize to the house.

However, before the sitting, Mawokota South MP John Bosco Lubyayi condemned the brutality meted on over 26 legislators as they were evicted from the chamber following the order for suspension by the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

This is after the 23 MPs she read out from a list of 25 suspended for misconduct and breaching rules of procedure defied her ruling.

Lubyayi who belongs to the ruling party National Resistance Movement said that the sanctity of parliament was tested yesterday more so that the eviction was done by plain clothed persons unknown to legislators.

Meanwhile, Kumi Municipality MP Silas Aogon says that the chaos in the House will be written in the history books of the country and cannot be rubbed from the records of parliament.
