Opposition Leader Raila Odinga has rejected the new Presidential election date set by Kenya’s Electoral Body, IEBC.
Speaking on Tuesday, Mr. Odinga dismissed the election date saying IEBC had not consulted the National Super Alliance (NASA).
He said there were thorny issues that needed to be taken care of first before the elections are conducted.
On Monday, IEBC announced that fresh presidential polls would be held on Tuesday, October 17.
In a statement issued by Chairman Wafula Chebukati, the electoral commission told Kenyans that only President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga would appear on the ballot paper.
Chebukati noted that IEBC was revising the operational and procedural requirements for the conduct of a fresh election.
On Friday, the Court nullified President Kenyatta’s win after a successful petition filed by the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders.
Speaking to journalists threatened to boycott the repeat presidential election if the election is not held in a new environment where everything that went wrong can be corrected.
