Details surrounding their release are at the moment scanty, but according to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Police will be addressing the media on the matter at 12:30pm.

It is alleged that they were arrested a tip to security agencies on Wednesday, that a group of people was buying government drugs illegally.

Onyango yesterday said an operation would later be carried out and arrested three of the suspects from Makindye in Kampala while meeting a person who was supposed to sell to them the classified drugs.

They would later reveal that some of the already bought classified drugs were at Sserwanja’s home where indeed boxes of the drugs were found according to Police.

Thereafter, NBS Television said in a statement that the arrested journalists were arrested while on duty – doing an investigative story on the alleged sale of Uganda government drugs on the black market.

Police, however said that even if it was an investigative story, the journalists and their employers ought to have informed Police since government also has interest in the matter.
