Over 141 members of the NRM Diaspora league are currently undergoing training and patriotism orientation in the National Leadership training Institute in Kyankwanzi.
The training that is among others aimed at rallying all diaspora members to put their nation first in all that they do while they are abroad, commenced on January 7 and is expected to run for 10 days.
A number of Ugandans living in the diaspora have since enrolled for a patriotism leadership training that is taking place at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi.
This is the first ever Diaspora Leadership Course and Patriotic Training Program at the institute.
“We are enjoying the training though very tiresome; we are being trained in social, economic and political development as well as how to operate a gun,” noted one of the students who required anonymity.
SoftPower News has also learnt that the training that is coordinated by Eng Adam Kasambula is as well aimed at preparing the NRM Diaspora brigade that will be launched soon to counter the opposition in the diaspora.
“The party is in formulation of a diaspora brigade that will be so useful in defending the party abroad as well as canvasing both financial and political support for the NRM National Chairman, Yoweri Museveni in the forthcoming 2021 elections,” a source revealed.
“We are being trained to put right the country’s image abroad that has been tainted by the funny politicking politicians”.
Other sources have said that President Museveni is expected to close the training and has offered to reimburse all the costs incurred by the NRM diaspora members who are expected to return to their countries of occupation soon.
However, the promised refund has already caused grumbling within the camp where some leaders are proposing putting the money under a micro finance while others insist that each member be given his own share.
Efforts to reach Eng. Kasambula for a comment on the allegations were futile since his known contacts were off.
He had however emphasized that the training is not about love for one’s political partt but rather for building one’s love for his country.
Participants came from other countries which include; Turkey (40) USA/Canada, UK, Sweden, Finland, Denmark/Norway, China, Dubai, Southern Africa, Northern Africa, Eastern Africa as well as Ex-diaspora Officio who resettled home.
