Police detectives on Friday morning arrested Andrew Okoth for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Fahima Natooro, a former Tropical Bank employee.
The said murder was committed on Sunday in Mbalwa Zone, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
Police found Natooro’s body in Okoth’s house on Wednesday.
He has been hiding in a friend’s house in Kiwatule, Nakawa Division ever since.
Initially, Okoth was reported as an employee of Umeme Kiwatule branch but Umeme Uganda Limited distanced itself from the suspect.
“We can confirm that Mr. Okoth had been working with an Umeme contractor but was not directly employed by Umeme,” Umeme said in a statement.
“We are saddened by the news of the murder of Ms. Fahima Natoolo, noting that tragedies like these affect our families, communities and society.”
It added: “As this is an ongoing investigation we are offering all possible assistance to the authorities.”
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Emilian Kayima, said the suspect and the girlfriend came home in the wee hours of Sunday.
Okot later went to Riders Clinic in Namugongo and asked for medical attention, claiming he had been hurt.
His hand was bandaged upon arrest this morning.
This comes days after a one Sulaiman Musoke shot dead his girlfriend, Birabwa Nnabona, in Buwama Zone Makindye.
