The President of football governing body, Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), Eng Moses Magogo, Wednesday arrived in Tanzania to represent Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Ahmad Ahmad, in the draws of the AFCON U17 finals.
The draws are slated for Thursday December 20, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for the 13th edition of the AFCON U17 Championship to be played from 14th to 28th April, 2019.
Uganda is among the eight nations which will take part in the tournament to be hosted by Tanzania next year. Other countries are Tanzania(hosts), Morocco, Senegal, Angola, Guinea, Nigeria and Cameroon.
The Cubs qualified in August this year after winning the CECAFA U17 Zonal Qualifiers when they defeated Ethiopia 3-1 in the final at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
The young lads will be playing at the final tournament for the first time and will be representing the CECAFA region.
Uganda has a chance of representing Africa in the FIFA 2019 U17 World Cup in Peru, South America, should they finish among the top four teams.
The 2017 edition was won by Mali but failed to qualify for next year’s tourney in Tanzania.
