Uganda’s representatives in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup, KCCA FC, have started their journey with a comfortable win against Tanzania’s SC Mtibwa Sugar, in the match played Saturday afternoon, at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
The Ugandan side which looked more organised all through, settled for a 3-0 win with all goals coming in the second stanza of the game.
Young lad Allan Okello attempted to give hosts an early lead in the 3rd minute when he brushed a straight shot, only to be stopped by goalkeeper Kado Shaaban.
In the 11th minute, Allan Okello again played a one two exchange with Allan Kyambadde whose final shot also landed into Shaaban’s hands. Six minutes later, a cross from Kizza Mustafa found Patrick Kaddu who headed it wide.
The hosts pilled more pressure on Mtibwa Sugar in their quest for a first half goal which saw Allan Kyambadde heading twice away from the goal in the 32nd and 42nd minutes, before finishing the first stanza goalless.
Kyambadde’s belt shot in the 48th minute broke the deadlock when he tapped for KCCA FC, sending the highly parked StarTimes Stadium, into endless jubilation.
At the 59th minute mark, Coach Mike Mutebi introduced Muzamiru Mutyaba in place of Gift Ali, before Patrick Kaddu missing the target, thanks to Allan Okello and Obenchan’s donkey work.
In the 73rd minute, Patrick Kaddu doubled the home side’s lead before substituting him for Muwadda Mawejje. Mike Mutyaba was also introduced on the pitch in the 79th minute in place of Jackson Nunda.
Allan Okello couldn’t miss registering his name on the scoreboard, when he tapped the third goal in the 85th minute, before ending the game with KCCA FC on top.
Yesterday, club tactician, Mike Mutebi, told reporters that their minimum target is to qualify for the group stages of the tournament, having done it last year in the CAF Champions league.
They will next week travel to Tanzania for the return leg.
