ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU) Executive Board member and CEO Hostalite Ltd, Dickson Mushabe has won two of the top spots in the prestigious Titans – Building Nations Award.

The winners were announced at the CEO Global Pan African Awards celebration 2018, which was hosted in Kampala, Uganda, on 3rd November 2018.

Mushabe was on Saturday recognized for his work in the ICT sector and was announced both Country winner as well as Regional winner of the Great Lakes for the year 2018/2019.

The award is given to the most influential women and men within the various business sectors of the African economy.

Speaking to Softpower News after securing the award, Mushabe expressed gratitude to CEO Global, the organization managing the selection process, for the honor.

“I also want to thank God who has faithfully guided me on this journey,” Mushabe said.

“Hostalite is a testament to the possibilities that exist when one sets out to build a sustainable business. This award has fueled my passion to pass on whatever knowledge I can to mentor, especially the young people starting out in business, so that we change this story.” he pledged.

Having started his company in 2010, he has grown it from a small business serving a handful of clients, to a mid-sized establishment with IT products and software that are being exported to other countries of the world.

“To receive recognition on a continental platform such as this is overwhelming, especially when I think back to our humble beginnings in this business,” Mushabe said.

As regional winner, Mushabe automatically competes for the continental awards at the grand finale in South Africa. Benefits of the award include a profile feature in the annual publication of the Titans magazine. This avails the winners the opportunity to further enhance their business relationships across Africa and around the globe.

Mushabe, who is also the author of the bestselling book, ‘I am not sorry for my mistakes’ is popular among Uganda’s up and coming crop of young entrepreneurs.

He uses his influence to speak about the challenges of doing business in Uganda as well as the solutions to overcome these. Apart from these regular speaking engagements, he also boasts a huge following on social media from young people looking to glean some knowledge from his experiences building up a business from scratch.

Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world and according to a report by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the country ranks as the most entrepreneurial country in the world.

Unfortunately, many of these businesses have also been revealed to last less than 5 years.
