Jinja LC3 chairman, Mubarak Kirunda on Friday faced hard times as the commission of inquiry into land matters quizzed him over being part of the land grabbing racket .
Kirunda was being accused of conniving with other district officials in Jinja to sellplot 60/62 along Visram road to businessman Simpson Birungi of Birus.
On Friday, the LC3 chairman of Jinja told the commission that by the time the building was demolished, he was in Masaka attending a workshop.
The commission led by Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire was, however, infuriated by these claims they said were total lies.
“We very well know that you participated in looting of the merchandise after the building was demolished,” Bamugemereire told the chairman.
He was also accused of receiving huge sums of money before accepting to have the building demolished.
The commissioners also accused Kirunda of conniving with the then town clerk, RDC and Mayor Baswale Kezaala to grab huge government properties in the district to enrich themselves at the expense of tax payers.
