Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) Board Chairman and businessman, Dr Patrick Bitature has called upon Ugandans to stop accusing government of the high unemployment levels in the country but play their part by privately creating jobs.
The reknown scholar and entrepreneur, made the call while addressing Ndejje University Graduands in Kampala during the 5th Commencement Lecture organized under the theme ‘The key secrets of Entrepreneurship success’.
Bitature told the graduands that indeed there is scarcity of jobs not only in Uganda but also in the outside countries challenging them to always be open to the opportunities available for job creation.
“We must all be a live to the gravity of the problem that there are many young people graduating today, thanks for this peace we have enjoyed for 30 years. However, there are very few jobs being created,” Bitature said.
“You should therefore not just sit home and begin complaining and accusing government of not creating jobs but you need to think of how to change your own life by tapping into the available opportunities,” Bitature said.
He added; “Stop waiting for government or someone to employment you. This is not being very optimistic”.
He challenged them to take charge of their life and make a difference by building on the moral and spiritual values as well as reading financial literacy so as to create jobs for themselves and others.
Bitature added that everyone should chase their own dreams noting that Uganda is a country full of opportunities.
“It is up to you to tap into these opportunities and must know that we are each gifted differently, look for your talent and use it to make Uganda a better country.”
The Vice Chancellor Ndejje University, Prof. Eliab Lugujjo told graduands to sieve the knowledge acquired from the institution and apply the best where it matters if they are to excel in life.
“You must reflect on the intellect that you have acquired from the institution. I thank you and your sponsors and for the integrity you have shown having not squandered the money,” Lugujjo said.
A total of 2,600 will be graduating on Friday October 12 in various disciplines with Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelors and Masters Degree.
