Singer and politician, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is set to hold a music concert this October.

The self proclaimed ‘Ghetto President’ who has lately been consumed by his political pursuits while at the same time treating the injuries he sustained from his alleged torture is now looking to put his musical popularity to test.

He has announced that he will stage a show on October 20 and the venue will be the 45,000 sitter Namboole stadium.

According to the promotional artwork shared by Bobi Wine on his Facebook on Thursday, there are no other musicians named to open for him. Whether it will be a one-man-show, only time will tell.

The concert is dubbed ‘Kyarenga’, his latest single in which the Fire Base leader pours his love feelings out to a lady he adores but is faced with competition from deep pockets. Released in May this year, the song has since made rotation on radio, TV, hang outs and other public spaces amplified especially by the unfortunate occurrences (including his arrest and detention) that befell him in Arua district in August.

Today, it is almost impossible to view Bobi Wine as a singer and not a politician, and vice versa. This is why some already believe that it is these two personalities combined that will fill the vast stadium come October 20. No other Ugandan musician has held their concert in Namboole.

Tickets go for Shs 30,000 (VIP) and Shs 10,000 for ordinary.

Bobi Wine together with singers Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool are among the pioneering names that introduced Uganda to the Afro Pop music genre about two decades ago.

While the other two have largely been known to entertain, for Bobi Wine, music has been not just a tool for entertainment but also education and activism for social justice. He calls it ‘edutainment’.
