RUBANDA – Anselm Niwahereza, a 15-year-old Senior Two student of Nyaruhanga High School was on Tuesday morning killed after students of Rubanda High School attacked the school.

On Tuesday at around 9am, they decided to attack Nyaruhanga High School with sticks, iron bars and a fight between the students from the two schools ensued leading to the injury of several students.

Students of Nyaruhanga H.S were in class and unaware of the plan, when the attackers raided them. It was during the process that Niwahereza was beaten up.

Police managed to quell the fight and Niwahereza was rushed to a nearby health centre, Juna Amagara Hill Medical Centre. However, after 30 minutes, he passed on as he had sustained deep cuts on his forehead and chest.

Tai Ramathan, the Rubanda DPC, confirmed the incident saying that Police have commenced investigations and have deployed at both schools to avoid a repeat of the incident.

“It is unfortunate that we lost a student in this nasty incident. We are however investigating the circumstances that caused that,” he said.

Gad Ngabirano, the deceased student’s father told SoftPower News that he was called by the school authorities that his son had died and he now demands that both schools make burial arrangements for his son.

“I am so bitter that my son died in such a reckless way. All I need now is to have my son buried decently by both parties involved,” he said.
