It is among the top movies from Uganda as of the year 2018 for its endless impressions and achievements witnessed by audiences in Uganda, East Africa, Africa and the world at large as of July 2018.

It had a successful premiere on 9th February that attracted hundreds of cinema goers, socialites, media houses and journalists reviewing it as a descent well told educational African story that suits all ages, a family movie.

The Forbidden Movie became the first Ugandan feature film to ever win the Golden Impala for Best Feature Film Award at the 11th Amakula International Film Festival that happened in March.

Through the month of April, the movie received an official selection to compete in Ghana’s Golden Movie Awards Africa where it got 13 nomination categories with 9 people of the cast and crew nominated in May and on 2nd June. It also won the Golden Makeup Artist Award at this competition.

Recently, the film got a nomination in the ‘Best Festival Themed Film’ and ‘Best African Feature Film’ categories at the Real Time International Film Festival in Nigeria where it scooped the Best Festival Themed Film Award.

Furthermore, it got a nod in the Best Movie East Africa category of Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) on 30th of June 2018.

It was also selected and nominated to compete at the Zanzibar International Film Festival 2018 in the Golden Dhow – Best Feature Film Category, which is the top most category of the competition

The film has also attracted the attention from USA’s Los Angeles Film Festival, the German Afrikanische Filmtage/African Film Festival Munich and Chicago International Film Festival, an Oscar Qualifying festival in USA.

Recently, the producer of The Forbidden (Mrs. Claire Christine Nampala) partnered with Go Girl Africa (GGA) a Non – Government Organization that empowers women and girls, to screen this film in schools and communities in all regions of Uganda from July 2018 to July 2021.

This move, they hope will educate students (both boys and girls) and people in communities and inspire them to become influential and useful individuals in the country.

Looks like all is going well for the film, both locally and in international audiences.
