In Ethiopia, Saleh was received by Uganda’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, HE Rebecca Otengo who doubles as Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the African Union.

During his visit to Mozambique, Saleh together with President Museveni, Lt Gen Ivan Koreta and Col Bosco Omure visited Montepuez, a military facility that was between 1976 – 1978 offered by President Samora Machel to Commander Yoweri Museveni who at the time led the Front For National Salvation (FRONASA) that fought alongside Tanzanians to depose the regime of Idi Amin in 1979.

The Mozambican government named a military museum after President Yoweri Museveni in memory of the ties between Mozambique’s revolutionary FRELIMO and FRONASA.

Gen Saleh is one of the surviving 28 freedom fighters that were trained by President Museveni from Montepuez. The others are Gen Ivan Koreta and Col Omure Bosco.
