Aruu County Member of Parliament Odonga Otto has called upon Parliament to pronounce itself on the conduct of the Minister for Lands and Oyam South MP, Betty Amongi over the alleged illegal acquisition of land from Asians.

“This house should pronounce itself through rule 84 on the conduct of the Minister who is currently keeping 2336 land titles of the departed Asians,” Otto demanded.

Otto laid on table copies of evidence of acquisition of land and Asian properties that she, it is alleged, fradulently acquired.

“Other than the Minister owning five properties, she has fraudulently acquired 88 properties out of the 2000 existing departed Asian properties,” Otto noted.

He demanded that the house should pick interest and “the Speaker should advise on whether we move a censure motion, take the Minister to the relevant Disciplinary Committee or institute a select committee to investigate this matter.”

Odongo noted that the Minister has since threatened Asians to vacate some land indicating that they should leave Uganda for Ugandans or else they would be fought to the letter.

He as well demanded that the house strongly pronounces itself on Ministers who get to government offices to pursue their their own ambitions of enriching themeselves.

Efforts to put Otto to order by Mitooma Woman MP, Jovah Kamateeka who notified the house that the matter raised by the legislator is already under investigations before the Land probe failed.

The Speaker ruled that she would get time and go through the documents tabled by Otto and later give her final ruling on the matter.
