Finance and accounting professionals will meet in Kampala later this month for the fifth ACCA Uganda Members Convention to discuss how technology, artificial intelligence and changing business demands are reshaping the profession.
The two-day convention, organised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Uganda, will take place on November 19 and 20, 2026, at Speke Resort and Convention Centre in Munyonyo.
Held under the theme “Navigating Change: Flexible and Inclusive Career Pathways,” the event will bring together accountants, business leaders, policymakers, ACCA members, affiliates and students.
Discussions will focus on how finance professionals can adapt to automation, artificial intelligence, data-driven business and emerging global standards while supporting sustainable businesses.
The convention will be held in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend physically or virtually. The first day will focus on professional skills and the changing role of accountants, while the second day will address sustainable business practices.
Finance Minister Henry Musasizi is expected to officiate at the opening ceremony as chief guest.
National Planning Authority Executive Director Dr Joseph Muvawala will speak about the changing role of professional accountants in Uganda’s growth strategy and economic transformation.
Joseph Owolabi, founder and chief executive officer of Rubicola Consulting and former ACCA Council president, will deliver keynote addresses on global opportunities for accountants and the adoption of sustainability reporting.
Other speakers include Aiden Rujumba, Commissioner for Financial Management Systems at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development; David Masiko, Senior Manager for Planning and Analytics at the National Social Security Fund; and Jackson Ndyabanawe, Country General Manager of Flutterwave Uganda.
Bishop Joshua Lwere is also expected to address issues affecting professionals at personal and corporate levels.
Topics will include the use of artificial intelligence in public financial management, Uganda’s sustainability roadmap, adoption of international sustainability reporting standards IFRS S1 and S2, green finance, carbon markets and alternative investments.
The convention will also discuss changes in the labour market, digital transformation, talent management in a multigenerational workplace, professional wellbeing, succession planning, mentorship and coaching.
ACCA Uganda Country Manager Charlotte Kukunda said the convention would give finance professionals an opportunity to examine changes affecting their work and businesses.
“The convention provides an opportunity for professionals and the wider finance community to explore the changes impacting their roles and businesses, contribute to policy debate, share experiences and maximise the available opportunities,” Kukunda said.
She said the discussions would draw on ACCA’s global experience to prepare accountants for emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, changing international standards and new opportunities for professional development.
The Uganda Members Convention has been held since 2014, taking place every two years and alternating with the Africa Members Convention. It provides a platform for professional networking, knowledge sharing and continuing professional development.
Registration is open, with physical attendance costing Shs1.1 million for ACCA members, affiliates and students, and Shs1.3 million for non-ACCA participants.
Virtual participation costs Shs600,000 for ACCA members, affiliates and students, while non-ACCA delegates will pay Shs800,000.
The fees do not include accommodation. A standard deluxe room at the conference venue is available at an indicated rate of Shs590,625 per night, subject to confirmation.
