Pearl Bank has procured 100 kits for the Teso Run and pledged support for financial literacy and environmental conservation activities marking the fourth coronation anniversary of Teso cultural leader His Royal Highness Paul Sande Etomeileng Emolot, known as Emorimor.
The two-day celebrations were scheduled for October 16 and 17, 2026, in Soroti District under the theme “For the Child”, bringing together cultural and community activities aimed at promoting education, unity and development across the Teso sub-region.
Pearl Bank said its participation aligns with its corporate social investment agenda, which focuses on education, financial literacy, health, environmental sustainability and community empowerment.
Godfrey Otene, Pearl Bank’s Soroti Branch Manager, said the partnership would support initiatives intended to benefit communities while preserving cultural heritage.
“Supporting Teso Run 2026 aligns with our CSI agenda, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability, financial literacy, community empowerment and preservation of culture for future generations,” Otene said.
He added that financial literacy sessions would be conducted to encourage saving, responsible borrowing and informed financial decision-making.
“Our purpose is to foster prosperity for Ugandans, and for our people to attain this, they must gain financial literacy, which is a critical tool for economic transformation,” Otene said.
Pearl Bank said its corporate social investment programme is guided by three principles: Scale, Impact and Sustainability, commonly abbreviated as SIS.
Toto Nosianta Emechu, Chairperson of the Council of the Iteso Cultural Union, welcomed the bank’s contribution, saying support for the coronation anniversary helps preserve the traditions and identity of the Teso community.
He said the celebrations would begin on October 16 with tree planting and financial literacy activities before climaxing with the run the following day.
Pearl Bank said it would also establish an exhibition space during the celebrations, where its staff would engage participants, provide financial guidance and showcase the bank’s products and services.
The activities combine cultural celebrations with community initiatives, including environmental conservation and financial education, under the anniversary theme “For the Child”.
