On November 21, 1986, Princess Elizabeth Bagaaya of Tooro presented her letters of credence to U.S. President Ronald Reagan in the Oval Office at the White House, formally assuming her role as Uganda’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States.

The historic diplomatic moment placed Her Royal Higness Bagaaya at the centre of Uganda–U.S. relations during a defining period in the country’s post-independence diplomatic history. This followed her appointment by President Yoweri Museveni month’s after His Excellency took charge of Uganda’s leadership.
