JINJA — The Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV, has celebrated the first birthday of his twin sons, Prince William Ethan Nadiope and Prince Arnold Eli Nadiope.

The Kyabazinga shared a birthday message on Thursday, August 27, 2026, marking one year since the princes were born.

“Today we celebrate one beautiful year of double joy, double laughter and double blessings. You have filled our hearts with a love greater than words can express,” the Kyabazinga said.

He prayed for God’s protection and guidance as the princes grow, wishing them good health, wisdom, happiness and favour.

“May God watch over you, guide every step you take and bless you with good health, wisdom, happiness and favour,” he said.

The Kyabazinga also prayed that the bond between the brothers would remain strong throughout their lives.

“May your bond as brothers remain strong, and may your lives always be filled with love, purpose and endless reasons to smile,” he said.

The princes were born on August 27, 2025, to the Kyabazinga and his wife, Inhebantu Jovia Mutesi. Their birth was announced several days later by the royal family, which described the arrival as a “double blessing.” Both the mother and the newborns were reported to be in excellent health.

The twins were named Prince William Ethan Nadiope and Prince Arnold Eli Nadiope. The elder twin, Ethan, has been identified as the Crown Prince under Busoga’s traditional succession practice, where the firstborn of twins is regarded as the heir.

Their birth carried significance beyond the royal household, coming at a time when Busoga was celebrating the continuity of its royal institution.

Busoga Kingdom officials described the arrival as a symbol of continuity and stability, while Prime Minister Joseph Muvawala said the birth had assured the continuity of the kingdom.

“I would like to thank everybody and the people of Busoga who have loved and believed in Kyabazinga because the continuity of this kingdom has now been assured,” Muvawala said following the birth.

The Kyabazinga and Inhebantu married on November 18, 2023, at Christ Cathedral in Bugembe in a ceremony that marked Busoga’s first royal wedding since 1956.

As the twins turn one, the royal family’s celebration is also a reflection of how monarchy continues to carry meaning in contemporary Uganda: not simply through crowns and ceremonies, but through questions of lineage, identity and continuity.
