The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Mountain Infantry Division has appointed Col Innocent Tukashaba as its new Division Operations and Training Officer.
Col Tukashaba takes over from Col Richard Kitata Sseguya, who has been appointed Commandant of the Mountain Warfare Training School (MWTS).
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mountain Infantry Division Commander Maj Gen Stephen Mugerwa called for greater teamwork among officers to strengthen the Division’s effectiveness in carrying out its operations.
Maj Gen Mugerwa commended Col Kitata Sseguya for his contribution to the Division during his tenure, particularly his role in operations that contributed to the successes registered under Operation Shujaa.
He described Col Tukashaba’s appointment as an opportunity to inject fresh energy into the Division and tasked him with building on the achievements of his predecessor.
Maj Gen Mugerwa urged the incoming officer to ensure continuity and support the effective execution of the Division’s operations in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
In his remarks, Col Kitata Sseguya thanked Maj Gen Mugerwa for his guidance and teamwork during his tenure as the Division’s Operations and Training Officer.
Col Tukashaba pledged to build on the foundations established by his predecessor and strengthen them where necessary to support the Division in fulfilling its mission.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Deputy Division Commander, Brig Gen David Opeero, alongside senior and junior officers of the Division.
