Uganda’s distance running superstar Jacob Kiplimo has once again stamped his authority on the global stage, capturing a historic third straight senior men’s title at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida.
In a commanding performance, Kiplimo crossed the finish line first in a time of 28:18, outpacing Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi, who took silver in 28:36. Kenya’s Daniel Ebenyo completed the podium with a 28:45 finish to claim bronze.
This remarkable hat-trick of victories, following back-to-back wins at previous editions, cements Kiplimo’s place among the all-time greats in cross-country running. He becomes only the fourth man in history to achieve three consecutive world cross-country titles, joining legends like Kenenisa Bekele, Paul Tergat and John Ngugi in the record books.
The Ugandan team also enjoyed success in the senior men’s team standings, finishing on the podium and reinforcing Uganda’s continued strength in long-distance running on the world stage.
