The new identity brings a modern look to Shell sites while keeping the familiar yellow, red and white brand colours that customers recognise. The updated design places greater focus on clear navigation, comfortable spaces and a consistent experience across all sites.

The new Shell Mawanda Road brings enhanced convenience and sustainability to the service station network, featuring the company’s first solar-powered canopy that provides up to six hours of solar power to meet station’s energy needs and daily, reflecting its commitment to sustainability, by lowering carbon emissions and supporting a cleaner environment.

The site also hosts an Auto Express service centre, offering motorists a modern, fully serviced experience.

Speaking at the launch, Joanita Menya Mukasa, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, said: “At Vivo Energy Uganda, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering dependable service and high-quality energy solutions to motorists nationwide.

The inauguration of Shell Mawanda Road, alongside the strategic growth of our retail network, underscores our ambition to enhance market reach and strengthen customer accessibility.

Whether customers stop for fuel, a meal from our partners, or essential convenience items, our objective is to provide a seamless, efficient, and value-driven experience at every Shell service station.”

Carol Chen, Senior Vice President Global Marketing and Licensed Markets of Shell, added: “Shell’s refreshed global brand identity reflects our ambition to lead the energy retail experience by delivering high-quality fuels, advanced lubricants and consistently reliable service to customers wherever they are.

As mobility needs continue to evolve, our focus is on creating seamless, modern and customer-centred journeys. Our brand promise, ‘Whoever your journeys are for,’ captures this commitment and reaffirms Shell’s role as a trusted partner for millions of customers here in Uganda around the world.”

Hans Paulsen, Executive Vice President – East, of Vivo Energy Group, said: “The opening of Shell Mawanda Road reflects our strategic focus on expanding accessible, high-quality service points across the region.

Our investments not only strengthen the network but also contribute to local economic growth. By working with local suppliers, creating youth employment opportunities and providing Retail Academy training, we extend the benefits of our expansion to the communities we serve. Our commitment goes beyond fuel, ensuring that our presence drives real value and positive impact.”

The launch event was attended by senior Vivo Energy Group executives, including Arnaud Guichard, Executive Vice President for Retail and Commercial.

Anne Gitao, Vice President for Marketing; and Kerim Kermen, Vice President for Lubricants.

The Shell Brands International team included Flavia Ribeiro, General Manager for Licensed Markets; and Pritish Saha, Senior Brand Licensee Manager.
