Chil Group, a pioneering healthcare organisation specialising in AI-enabled and technology-driven solutions for underserved communities, today announced the official launch of its flagship “Global Cancer Tele-Oncology for All” project.

This transformative cancer screening and treatment continuum initiative is designed to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end care to remote and rural populations in East Africa, where access to oncology expertise remains severely limited.

According to recent global data presented at the 2025 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress, 92.2% of the world’s oncology workforce is concentrated in high- and upper-middle-income countries.

Even within the remaining 7.8%, most specialists are clustered in urban centres, leaving patients in remote, rural communities facing delayed diagnoses, exhausting and costly journeys to care, and significantly lower survival rates.

This stark inequity underscores the urgency of Chil Group’s hybrid Tele-oncology model, which directly tackles the “last mile” challenge in cancer care.

Patients attend physical screening camps at partner health facilities in Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya for sample collection and vital assessments, while international oncologists connect remotely via secure Tele-oncology platforms to interpret results in real time, deliver virtual consultations, and oversee patient management.

Critically, the Global Cancer Tele-Oncology for All project extends beyond screening: participating specialists ensure a seamless pathway to treatment by interpreting results and facilitating immediate referrals to partnered government and private cancer centres when needed.

Dr Shamim Nabuuma, Chief Executive Officer of Chil Group, commented: “We are not just testing; we are connecting. Through the Global Cancer Tele-Oncology for All project, we are ensuring that no patient is left confused or abandoned after a positive test result. We are issuing an urgent global call for oncologists and cancer physicians who are ready to make a tangible, life-saving impact from wherever they are in the world. These specialists will become the vital bridge between diagnosis and treatment for thousands of patients who would otherwise fall through the cracks.”

The initiative is made possible through dedicated fundraising and strategic partnerships. From 2023 to May 2025, Chil Group reached out to aligned partners sharing a deep commitment to equitable cancer care, setting an initial target of $500,000. Although the full amount was not reached, $310,000 was successfully raised, prompting the organisation to proceed without delay to maximise impact.

Key support includes a significant contribution from global consumer health leader Reckitt, which redirected a monetary award from Celonis Game Changer Community Inspiration Award 2024 toward this life-saving campaign.

Global Call to Action for Oncologists and Cancer Physicians

Chil Group invites qualified oncology specialists worldwide to register immediately for the Tele-oncology E-Camps planned for mid-2026.

Participation offers unparalleled flexibility: no requirement to join every session or country, specialists select camps aligning with their schedules and expertise, and all participation is fully remote via secure, high-quality Tele-oncology connections.

Chil Group eliminates administrative hurdles by partnering directly with medical regulatory authorities in Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya, handling all temporary registration, licensing, and clearance processes for volunteers.
