Haba Na Haba Food Bank Uganda, with the support of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, Food Banking Regional Network, Egyptian Food Bank and the government of the United Arab Emirates, has Launched the 1 Billion Meals Endowment Campaign
The initiative launched at St James Bbiina Catholic Parish, part of a large scale humanitarian effort aimed at providing over 1,760,000 meals to vulnerable individuals and families across Uganda.
It brings together development partners, religious leaders and community organizations united by a shared mission of ending hunger and uplifting the lives of those most affected by food insecurity.
The 1 Billion Meals Endowment Campaign is part of a broader regional initiative supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, whose vision continues to inspire global humanitarian action and food security programs across the Middle East and Africa.
Through this partnership, Haba Na Haba food bank will lead the local implementation of the campaign, coordinating food recovery and distribution to reach communities facing the greatest vulnerability.
Jessica Bagenda, CEO of Haba Na Haba Food Bank Uganda, noted that the initiative will focus on orphanages, refugee settlements, people living with disabilities, and low-income families.
She revealed that each food box is intended to sustain a family of five for a month.
The campaign plans to distribute a total of 50,100 food boxes, with 2,550 already delivered. To further support the initiative, the organization rescues about 1,200 kg of food daily from markets, helping to close nutritional gaps for the most vulnerable communities.
