Uganda has officially welcomed Jetour, the Chinese automotive brand, marking a major milestone in the country’s automotive industry with the unveiling of two new SUV models — the Jetour DASHING and X70 Plus — at a high-profile launch event held at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

The launch, organised by Al Mamoun East Africa, the exclusive distributor for Jetour in Uganda, introduced the sleek, performance-driven SUVs designed to offer style, reliability, affordability, and modern technology to Ugandan motorists. The company also announced plans to launch the Jetour T2 later this year, expanding its fleet options.

Government Welcomes Investment

Speaking at the event, Moses Kaggwa, Ag. Director at the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, welcomed Jetour to Uganda, noting that the investment aligns with government efforts to industrialize and modernize the economy.

“We welcome Jetour to Uganda and assure you of our support. Beyond permits and roads, you will find Ugandans eager to work — to sell your cars, run workshops, distribute spare parts, and provide after-sales service. We will continue to improve infrastructure, simplify policies, and ensure investments like yours create opportunities for our people,” Kaggwa said.

Jetour Promises Quality and Value

Zein Abdelmutaal, Chief Operating Officer, Jetour Uganda, emphasized the company’s commitment to reliable after-sales service, availability of spare parts, and building customer confidence.

“Owning and maintaining a Jetour in Uganda will be easy. We are investing heavily in after-sales support and local capacity to ensure a seamless ownership experience,” Abdelmutaal noted.

Sales Manager Richard Bamujje added that Jetour aims to fill a longstanding gap in Uganda’s automotive market: “Uganda’s automotive sector has for years lacked variety and dependable solutions. With Jetour, we are offering vehicles that combine quality, efficiency, and value — for individuals and corporate fleet managers alike.”

A New Era for Uganda’s SUV Market

The launch unveiled two distinct models:

Jetour DASHING – A compact, bold SUV built for urban lifestyles with prices starting at Shs115 million.

Jetour X70 Plus – A spacious, feature-rich SUV designed for comfort and long-distance performance, starting at Shs110 million.

Both models promise modern styling, safety features, fuel efficiency, and affordability, making them competitive options in Uganda’s growing SUV market.

The Jetour T2, designed for off-road enthusiasts, is expected to hit Ugandan roads by the end of 2025.

Queen Sheebah Karungi made a grand entrance in the Jetour T2.

Global Growth, Local Impact

Founded in 2018 under Chery Holding Group, Jetour has rapidly expanded its global footprint. In Europe alone, Chinese automotive brands doubled their market share to 5.1% in the first half of 2025, underscoring China’s growing influence in the global automotive industry.

Jetour Uganda will operate a showroom and service center in Namanve, ensuring easy access to vehicles, spare parts, and maintenance services.

As the night ended with a special appearance by musician Sheebah Karungi, who arrived in the stylish Jetour T2, the message was clear: the future of driving in Uganda has arrived.
