The Uganda Cranes put on a commanding performance at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole, thrashing Mozambique 4–0 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Friday.
The result, seen as sweet revenge for Uganda after a 3–1 defeat in the reverse fixture, lifted the Cranes to second place in Group G with 12 points from seven matches. They now sit level on points with Mozambique but boast a superior goal difference. Group leaders Algeria remain six points clear at the top.
The Cranes’ victory was powered by standout performances from Rogers Mato, who bagged a brace, Allan Okello, who netted the third, and Elio Capradossi, whose powerful header from a corner sealed the 4–0 rout.
Uganda now turns its focus to the next qualifier against Somalia on September 8, 2025, as it continues its push for a historic World Cup berth.
